Yeshua said "Does our law judge any man before it hears him, and knows
what he does?" (John 7:51). The history of the Civil War has been
largely written, rewritten, and revised for over a century, like so many
wars, by the victor. But is it fair to judge the matter without
hearing both sides of the story? Back in 1961 a southern journalist
named Clint Bonner sought to tell the history of the Civil War from a
southern perspective. He wrote a 34 chapter book titled "Invasion
from the North" relating the Civil War from a southern perspective.
The book was published in serial form in installments in various
southern newspapers. Bonner planned to then publish the chapters in an
actual book. Unfortunately Bonner was never able to publish the book.
However a friend of my mother collected all of the installments,
photocopied them and gave them to her, and she placed them in a three
ring binder which I inherited upon her passing away. To my knowledge
this binder is the only surviving copy of this unpublished book. Recent
events (states rights issues and debate over the meaning of the
"Confederate Flag) have renewed interest in this topic. In this blog I will scan all of "Invasion from the North" and
post it to the internet so that this other side of the story of the
Civil War can be read again for the first time since 1961.
